Saint Xavier's School was established in the village of Jamtailbari in Unakoti district of Tripura in the year 2018. Later, in 2022, the school was shifted to the present site at Bhagaban Nagar near Kailashahar. It is managed by Xavier Educational and Charitable Trust, Tripura. The school is run by the members of an international organisation called Society of Jesus. Known also as Jesuits, they are committed  to provide holistic and quality education world over.

The Jesuit vision of education that drives Saint Xavier's School draws its energy and inspiration from the Jesuit heritage which has a long history of almost five centuries. Saint Ignatius Loyola, a Spanish visionary, along with Saint Francis Xavier and five other companions, founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuit Order), a worldwide organisation of religious men, in 1540. Its members numbering about 16,000 today serve in every continent, and nearly 4,000 of them are in India. Globally, the Jesuits are responsible for about 4,000 educational institutions that range from pre-primary schools to full-ledged universities catering for approximately 30 lakhs students in 96 countries. The Jesuit tradition of education has as its watchword MAGIS which implies 'ceaseless striving for excellence.'

Hence, Jesuit Fathers, as they are popularly known, adopted Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP), a hallmark of Jesuit education all over the world. The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, the philosophy of teaching in Jesuit Institutions, aims at personality development, wholesome growth, and nurturing the children to bloom into men and women for others, people of competence, conscience and compassion who will carve a niche for themselves in the world. Based on the five principles of context, experience, action, evaluation and reflection, it nurtures teacher-student relationship and encourages educational innovation in a climate of academic freedom. Today Jesuit Fathers run some of the finest schools, colleges and higher educational institutes in India and abroad.

The history of the Jesuit education mission in India began with Saint Francis Xavier's arrival on 6 May 1542 and the founding of schools and colleges in Goa and Kochi shortly afterwards. The Jesuits presently conduct over 50 university colleges, 17 institutes of Business Administration and 220 High Schools spread throughout the country. Over 3.6 lakhs of students cutting across boundaries of region, religion, language, caste and ethnicity receive their education in these institutions. Jesuit colleges like St Xavier's College, Kolkata and St Xavier's College, Mumbai, and Universities like Xavier University, Kolkata and XIM University at Bhubaneswar have been named after this pioneering saint. Situated among the lush green hillocks of scenic beauty, the school provides an idyllic and nature-friendly environment for the academic pursuit of its pupils. Presently the school admits students to classes ranging from nursery to class 1 and it will eventually be upgraded to a higher secondary school. A hostel attached to the school makes it accessible to children from remote villages.
